It's hard to say if this can be called a faithful fix, because what was left in the creator's youtube vedios aren't enough to recreate what was shown there. So this fix(Or recreate version) of Chaos Black is mostly based off the text description left in the intro of the game. So it may not be accurate. The only reason why I want to make this is to make this supposedly new region hack feel more like how it was supposed to be instead of still feeling like a simple modified Fire Red with fakemon.
What's in the game:
Two new regions: Magore and Beaulés. Magore has 8 Gyms while Beaulés has 6 Gyms.
Over 40 kinds of fakemon(More than 30 from the original Chaos Black alpha1, 3 discovered in the creator's vedio and more than 10 made by me to make the fakemon more varied).
Some beta Pokemon from the leaked GS/RS/DP demo roms.
The gameplay was made to feel more like Fire Red.

The 9/14/2025 update fixed the text error of one single signpost.
The 9/10/2025 update fixed the tile errors in the basement of SE Corp.
The 9/6/2025 update fixed some movement errors, the most important one is the one in Chaos World, which makes it impossible to go back from where you entered.
The 9/4/2025 update fixed some more graphical glitches, also, Ashton's rematch team was fixed, so he has Armoreen instead of Seleli in his team now.
The 9/3/2025 update changed En and Rai's movepool to get rid of Roar so that they won't get away in battle. Also, a few Pokemon's pokedex entries were fixed.
The 9/1/2025 update fixed one wrong evolution line, which might be minor but can be annoying if you use Madame. Also, Oreak line's evolution level seemed to be a bit to high, so I changed that too. Kurorbin's movepool was adjusted too so that it can learn Confusion at Lv13 now.
The 8/28/2025 update fixed one single map error which makes it impossible to walk back to Darkwood Town from Hotwind City through Route 13.
The 8/27/2025 hotfix update recreated the animation seen in the video of the creator, which is not a fully faithful recreation since the sprites there are destroyed by the low quality video, but it is still close enough. This should be the last part of actual content I've wanted to recreate but was unable to do.
The 8/27/2025 update fixed a few graphical errors. Which may not affect the gameplay at all.
In the 8/25/2025 update, the following things are changed:
1. The beginning of the game was changed a bit.
2. A Master Ball seller was added in the SE Corp. headquarter.
3. Many of the in-game trade Pokemon were changed.
4. Some more text errors/minor glitches were fixed.
Hopefully this will be the last major update if nothing else goes wrong.
The 8/23/2025 update was out for adding a few missing wild Pokemon. Also, the sprites of a few fakemon were changed a little bit.

Hey Hacksrepairman, it's been a while. Is there any documentation for this game?

ReplyDeleteoh, hi thanks a lot for you very effort Could you fix Pokémon Hyper Emerald v5, the version that was translated into English? There are quite a few ROMs to fix. I love you, you're the best. You brought hacking back to its golden age.
Hey, is there a debug menu for this game or working cheats?
ReplyDeleteHey, awesome that you tried to recreate things from my video from another lifetime ago. If you ever want some of the original files, let me know
ReplyDeleteSorry, I wasn't able to visit this place for so long. I'm so happy that you actually saw this. If you still have some of the original files left, it would be great. By the way, thanks for making this game!
DeleteAnd if you've got documentation for it please share that too, it'll be very helpful as resource material for a walkthrough that I could write for the game.
DeleteSorry, I didn't make any detailed documentation yet, but if you want to learn anything about the game, feel free to ask.
DeleteNo worries, I just wanted to know if there's documentation available at the moment. I'm not writing the walkthrough yet so you'll have plenty of time to prepare the documentation (or Enix-Zae could do it).
DeleteChaos Black - things i remember
DeleteA lot of these concepts are from an edgy teen in the mid 2000’s, so treat lightly
Was going to be 1 small region over 4 time periods (region maps should be in the zip somewhere)
Present, past, far past(ancient) and far future(desolate).
Travel through time was going to be a main element of the story
Paradox pokemon was going to be a major element, with lots of pokemon having corrupted paradox forms that are effectively legendaries (you can see these in the sprites for pokemon 151+ iirc)
I was a terrible designer in regards to balance back then. No patience, so any interesting map or concept was always put in as soon as possible, making the post beta maps not bad, but not suited for where they are (i mean that first gym…). If I was to develop it again, it would be simple maps in present, and start playing around a bit more with alternate maps in the other time periods
It was planned to be a pair, with chaos black and justice white, having an entire different set of starters in each. Today i would just have the one version, but some choice would shuffle up the possible starters at the start of the game.
I really liked the idea of split evolutions, often with no control (i.e wurmple) to shuffle up expectations a bit
I also really liked the idea that some of the weaker pokemon found around can evolve to become some of the strongest. Might have been thinking that preventing an evolution would potentially grant access to the other lines at later levels, or special items or something
Some examples: the “bugs” would have a potential second cocoon evos to access rare mons
19 evolves to 20 which can either evolve into 21 or 22, which 22 can then evolve into either 23 or 24
25 evolves to 26 which can either evolve into 27 or 28, which 28 can then evolve into either 29 or 30
46 is an alternate evolution from dragonair
58 is an alternate evolution from 14
78 is an alternate evolution from 7
90 and 91 both evolve into 92, but breeding 92 would result in 88 which would evolve to 89
139 evolves to either 140 or 141
I think 146 was a prevo or 147/148/149/150? Or maybe just separate completely, i cant remember the point of this one
151 was a secret evolution of 59
I dont remember how 47 and 150 relate to 152, but there was definitely something there
153 to 173 are the paradox pokemon. Cant remember if they were stand alone or if they were secret evolutions using items obtained in the story, but they would be prominent in the late game regardless
Either way, once it was clear that chaos black was overpopular, i was worreid that even if i did release something, it was that beta that everyone would remember, and as time went on priorities changed and lost interest.
Should also note that the current versions are not in a very stable state, was the wild west back then and was a lot harder to make changes to the roms than it is now.
(let me know the best contact details I can send the files to you)
I just wanted to say that this game was better than anything hyped by the hack community like Lazarus and Emerald Seaglass. This was really good and I had a great time with it. Do you have any hacks that you think ade better than this one?
